do you think that even though i haven’t started writing lyrics yet at almost age 17, i still have a chance at writing my own music?

of course! and while your working on improving your own writing abilities, there’s nothing wrong with having someone else write your lyrics.
of course! time is an illusion, and if you remain happy and healthy you could live until you’re around age 90! that gives you 72 years to gain experience in writing lyrics, so there’s no need to rush, you got it yuh!
I think you still have a chance. Lyrics are sometimes difficult to plan down and sometimes are not even relevant. Its best to think of the lyrics while you write the melody, and then make chord progressions based on said melody. As for finding the lyrics themselves, try to find a mood for what you are trying to go for as you compose. The melody, lyric, and chords will follow.
